Modern Africa

Academic intellectuals

Academic intellectuals represent the second sociologically significant stratum of Africa.

The Diallobés' project in Cheick Hamidou Kane's philosophical novel, L'Aventure ambiguë, was to send the young Samba Diallo to the school of the victors of Africa to learn to "bind wood to wood" and "the art of winning without being right".

After more than half a century of managing independence, the social observer is entitled to wonder whether learning "the art of winning without being right" has not overdetermined that of "tying wood to drink". Between the interests of knowledge and the interests of power, between transformative research and the race for power, have science and technology not been sacrificed at the altar of political battles?

Faced with this logic which in many respects delays the most beautiful development plans of the continent, the CRS-NDI would like to contribute to methodically setting in motion a new dynamic which assigns an end to this project of perpetuation of the defeat and concretely initiates a project of rebirth of Africa.

Attention to the question of African rationalities and the development of an epistemology and a methodology adapted to the mental crisis in Africa is done through in-depth research work, seminars on the appropriation of the results of the research and also paths of cultural conversion.
